MCPS is working with the Health Department to monitor cases of the flu. At this time, all Montgomery County schools are operating as normal.

The New River Department of Health advises residents to take the following routine steps to protect their health:
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you are unwell, or are running a fever, stay home from school or work to prevent spreading illness. Consult with your health care provider if you are concerned about your symptoms.

All MCPS schools are encouraging proper handwashing with all students. To aide in prevention, our custodians are providing extra cleaning for shared surfaces such as water fountains and restrooms.
