As a part of the implementation process for the school start times change, MCPS has sent a survey to all rising middle school students to determine the potential need for middle school child care.
“Childcare providers asked for this survey so that we could work together to determine if higher age options are necessary in their programs,” said Lois Graham, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
“We want the implementation of the change in school start times to go smoothly,” said Brenda Drake, public information officer. “Working with parents to determine how their child care needs may change is a part of that process.”
The change in school start times will begin on August 9, 2016. Elementary students will attend school from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. while middle and high school students will attend school from 8:50 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.
Additional information about the implementation process is available on the MCPS website.
