After the fire at Blacksburg Middle School we experienced water damage to two pods, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. Four classrooms on the second floor will be relocated for the remainder of the school year. Three classrooms on the first floor will be relocated for about three weeks because the water damage is significantly less.
BMS will re-open to students on Friday, March 18. The building will open to staff tomorrow, Wednesday, to assist with the classroom movement. Right now, we anticipate that Parent Teacher Conferences will be held as scheduled on Thursday.
We are grateful to our night custodians who smelled the fire and immediately called 911. They stayed throughout the evening and well into the next day to ensure that classroom materials were moved. Thanks to them we did not lose any technology or furniture.
